Ron Paul, the Mogambo Guru and Me

I was up in Nashua, NH today to see Ron Paul. He gave a great speech, and then he stayed around for over an hour after the event talking to supporters outside. When I got to talk to him, he told me - no joke - "I was reading the latest Mogambo Guru and I saw that he mentioned you, and I thought, 'Hey, I know Michael Nystrom!'" He looked at me with a big grin, laughed and said, "Hey, you're famous!"

That's the kind of guy Ron Paul is. He reads the Mogambo Guru, too! He's kind and funny and jokes around. But he also knows his stuff, and he is serious about spreading the message of liberty.

He said more and more people are waking up to this issue of fiat money and the unlimited government spending that it makes possible, and that the internet is a great place for people to learn about it. I told him that he gives people the courage to know that they are not alone out there - that there are many others with the same thoughts and ideas. He said that for him, it was reading Ludwig von Mises and others (all those years ago) that gave him that same feeling - that he was not alone.

Dr. Paul is a hero precisely because he has protected the fragile flame of liberty, keeping it alive during very dark times. In one interview I heard online, he mentioned discussing with some other old timers - colleagues in the cause of liberty - what would happen when they all passed away? Who would carry these ideas on to future generations?

There is no need to worry about that now. As Dr. Paul says, it is the young people who energize this campaign, and they could be seen in full force today! Ever humble, Dr. Paul often says he feels so honored to be a part of "our" revolution. In his speech, he says this is not so much a new revolution as a continuation of an old revolution...What we need in order to restore the liberties we've lost is to legalize the Constitution!

Dr. Paul joked around with me that I'm famous, but he is the famous one, and growing more so everyday. He says hundreds of new supporters join the campaign every day. Today's event was a GOP fund raising event, but it was completely dominated by Ron Paul supporters. In his speech he said to thunderous applause, "1913 was a bad year. We need to repeal that entire year!" It is amazing to find so many people so knowledgeable about the significance of that year in American history. I thought it was just me and a few other Bull! Not bull readers who knew that 1913 was the year that both the Federal Reserve and the income tax were established.

The support for Ron Paul is real. The mainstream media is intent on ignoring it. To spread the message, we're going to have to do it both 1) the old fashioned way - one person at a time, and 2) the new fangled way - through the internet! Our constitutional republic is slipping away right before our eyes. Dr. Paul is our last best hope to return the country to the principles upon which it was founded.

Today is Ron Paul's birthday. He is 72 and with more energy than people half his age.

Happy birthday, and thank you Ron Paul.

Great site!

Hi Mike,

I've never been to your 'other' website before -- but I had a feeling you were a smart guy! When it comes to financial stuff, my eyes glaze over and I dial up my advisor, LOL. It's so hard for me to understand. This is why I revere people like Ron Paul who have studied this stuff and written white papers on it etc...

Anyway good to see you on Sunday and Monday and I know you had a great time at the birthday too. While it was nice and low key but a lot of new people got to me Ron that day too!

I read your name in

I read your name in Daughty's article that week and thought the same thing! "I know Michael!" All things considered though, I recommend not putting too much in being mentioned by that paranoid egomaniac!

Illegal taxes paid for by

Illegal taxes paid for by illegal paper 'money', yet another infringement on our rights by the gov't. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and end this madness.

Ron Paul - Actions Matches Words

Glad you had a chance to meet Ron Paul in person. I have not, but that doesn't stop me. I'm 12 years younger than Ron Paul, but old enough to know he's the real deal. I've tried to figure out why things are the way they are, and here's what I've found. Through the last 40 years, the natural human defenses of our mind, body and soul have been purposely undermined, through controlled education, religion and media. As I've documented on my own site (http://GreatRedDragon.com), sociopaths have gained control by lying-by-omission. Their actions do not match their words. Ron Paul's actions and words match! He is NOT one of them. Ever notice the smirk on Bush or Cheney''s faces when they talk. Sociopaths can not keep their glee hidden when omitting important information. It's the "I know something you don't know, ha ha ha" emotion, and it's written all over their faces. You will notice as much on the other candidates, too, but not Ron Paul. I'm just sadden by the fact that my countrymen have been sold out for so long that it feels normal. I'm sure that when you trying to remove the mud from other people's glasses, it's like opening the door to a birdcage, but the bird retreats as far away from the door as possible. So many are simply more comfortable in their self-imposed cages. I know, because it sure took a long time for me to understand. Way too long. Keep up your good work, and we'll help Ron Paul, every way we can.
Respectfully,
Edward Ulysses Cate

Ron Paul's chances

Indeed, Ron Paul brings a refreshing outlook to politics in general. He is trying to regenerate faith in the basis tenents of our real constitutional from of governmment. I wish he had a chance, but even his message is ignored.

Although I have financially supported his candidacy, my feeling is that Paul's chances are slim at best. There are simply too many un-thinking voters who can be depended upon to do the biddings of the "poltical high priests". Too bad, but that's what we've gotten into. The "status-quo" people are in charge, as usual.

Incidentally, it's not just young people who energize Dr. Paul's candidacy campaign; I'm a lot older than Dr. Paul and a stanch supporter. His candidacy might even make it worthwhile to vote.

RP

Ron Paul is TRULY America's only hope. I see more and more supporters for him everyday. Even though they are trying to suppress him it is simply not working at all. People know when a candidate is honest and anyone who listens to one of his speeches knows that he his truly for the American people whether you are democratic or republican.
